HOW YOU CAN HELP

Preventing the release of Caulerpa from aquariums into the wild is in the interest of all residents of the United States. Not only have invasive species been identified as the second greatest threat to the world’s biodiversity (after habitat destruction), but also the U.S. government has estimated that invasive species cost our nation’s economy $123 billion annually!

Help also is needed to detect infestations of Caulerpa that have not yet been discovered. Efforts to map, contain and eradicate the next infestation will be costly and may not be successful if it is found too late. Detailed information on field survey methodology and Caulerpa survey reports are available here.
